Living in Gratitude

Hi Guys!

It is Thanksgiving week, and here in America the smell of turkey is in the air and family members are finding their way home to overeat and revel in the joy of loved ones.  My mom and my uncle are flying in as we speak, my mother-in-law is preparing the feast and Jeff and I are looking forward to a weekend full of warmth, hugs and great food.

What a gift that we are given this Thanksgiving holiday just as our year is ending. Before we jump into the anticipation of a whole new 12 months to create and play in, before we make goals and start our New Year’s dreaming, we have this special time to stop and be grateful.

The act of gratitude is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and your life.  To be able to actively seek the future with excitement while simultaneously falling in love with exactly where you are, this is one of the key skills of being a masterful creator.

This week I invite you to take special attention to all there is to be grateful for. The things and people in your life, big and small, that bring you joy and fill you up.

Things I am Grateful for

Here is an excerpt from my own list.

• My amazing husband and how our love grows every day (Hi Poobah!)
• That I am a 3 minute walk away from my favorite little Mediterranean restaurant, perfect for an afternoon of writing over a meal and a glass of wine, 5 minutes from the pub, always good for warmth and community on a cold winter night and 3.5 minutes from the very best Starbucks in all of Ohio.
• That fuzzy is in (fuzzy socks, fuzzy robes, fuzzy shirts) YAY Fuzzy!
• That I stumbled upon a beautiful new tea store ( just had a cup of pina colada tea!)
• The way life unfolds miraculously.
• That I have 4 furry angels to purr in my lap, cuddle and love.
• That I have a new found appreciation for vegetables.
• My family.  Yes all of you, both sides. Smooch!
• Alanis Morissette is on tour (See you in Denver! Front Row! Woohoo!)
• You,  for taking the time stop and reflect, to ponder life and to ask the questions that matter.
I know you make a difference in the world.

This holiday weekend you are invited to take the time to love your life.  That is how gratitude works, the more you are grateful, the more you love your life, and if you look closely, there is some really juicy stuff to love.

Now it’s your turn!

The invitation: Set aside 15 minutes this holiday weekend for gratitude.  Write a list of everything you are grateful for.  Nothing is too small, insignificant or foolish.  Write it all and don’t forget to include what you are grateful for about your own character, who you have become and your accomplishments in this past year.

Bonus invitation:  Start a new tradition this Thanksgiving and invite everyone to play the gratitude game.  Just before Thanksgiving dinner, go around the table and have everyone share one thing they are thankful for.  It is fun to hear what makes a difference for the people you love and their sharing is always sure to remind you of even more stuff to love about your own life!

Thank you for being a part of my life adventure.

Thank you for your own commitment to making the world a gentler, more loving place.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Joelle
